The Choir meet for practice every Monday and Thursday from 7.00pm in the Memorial Hall, Burry Port. They usually last for an hour and a half. New comers are always welcome and there is no voice test or other selection procedure. You can just come along to see if you like it for a few weeks before joining. It is useful but not essential that you know the section (Tenor1, Tenor2, Bass1, Bass2) but this can be determined during your first few sessions. Most newcomers have not sung for many years and are not welsh speaking. Yes! We do sing some songs in Welsh but most non-welsh speaking members manage this after a period of time.
The rewards of singing in a choir are numerous and very enjoyable. There are thought to be considerable benefits to health and well-being. (Some of our members are in their 80’s and 90’s). The Choir is a registered charity and contributes to local organisations by raising money at performances given to the general public. We also go on trips to locations in Britain. In 2018 the Choir will be singing in The Royal Albert Hall when they will be joining others choirs in a fantastic experience.
Uniform is provided to members who have been with the choir for a short period of time, when they are sufficiently experienced to perform, however rehearsals are casual dress.
COME AND TRY IT, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!
